After the Prozarians have left Carthya, Jaron in the end realizes it is best if he doesn't marry Imogen and breaks his betrothal to her in the Great Hall of his Castle. He will always care for Imogen but he isn't in love with her anymore as he was before. Not after everything that has happened. The story also describes the aftermath of the events across the five books. The kingdom is at peace as Jaron reflects on all that that has happened so far in his life and talks with his friends and his brothers. The wars and battles he has faced have wounded him in ways no one has ever known. His condition is no different than the condition of the castle. But the Castle can be repaired and in some ways he is healing as well. Besides he knows he isn't alone anymore as he has always believed he was. He has people who have become his found family to make him feel more at peace than he ever has.
