On the 12th hour of the first day of October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began. however, Levi Emeterio was born on that same day. sold by his family and adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves. he became a new member of the academy, and was known as number eight.

On the first day of October 1989, forty-three women around the world simultaneously gave birth. None of the women showed any prior signs of pregnancy. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and playboy adventurer, made it his mission to find and adopt as many of these children as possible. He got seven of them. About eleven years later, one of the children, number five, gets stranded in the apocalyptic future. About a year after, the billionaire adopts another child to replace him and keep the initial image of the Umbrella Academy. He chooses Finley, for her light manipulation.
