Memories aren't cheap in the world of the Grid, where Sable Huntris makes a living copying and selling the Kycenan elites' memories of the sunlight and fresh air to the residents of the underworld. When Sable is approached by a couple strangers who force her into accepting a contract to recover the texts concerning the mythical Muse 9 rifle, the ideal weapon with which to track and capture memories that do not fade, she is forced out of her regular darkness into a deeper one. Aria lives in the tunnels underground where her grandfather had taken their whole town once they found out about the war. Now that the war has been over for 10 years, her father, the new leader of the underground town, has decided to send a group to the surface to check it out. After some of the group members are taken by soldiers from The Kingdom, her father is forced to send out his best to find them. Aria and her brother are part of this group who have to somehow find The Kingdom in a world that they have never had the chance to live in. Lets not forget that Knights Tunnels and The Kingdom are not the only surviving groups of people and the others are not always how they seem. Join Aria on her journey to find her friends and maybe even the love of her life?

One day, back when I was ten and when my brother packed up all his things and left our lives, I stumbled upon a hidden passage in my room, just behind the wallpaper. We drove a go kart in there, pulled some pranks, warded off wild animals, had a mini bonfire, and found an underground waterfall. But over the years, we've neglected the Tunnels. We focused on our grades and our future. But when suspicious noises, reports of uncalled for earthquakes, and unknown passages popping up are all over the news, it might be time to visit the Tunnels once again. A world divided by genetics. It's simple really. Have the people with the strongest genetics for survival stay, have the weak and sickly genes sent away. In this world if you have a 30% or higher chance of getting a disease, disorder or malfunction, you're sent away. This causes many complications and stipulations to occur. These two societies that govern and the possibility of a third that has been burned out of history. If you lived in the town of Clear Creek Valley, you'd know who I am, and you'd know who my family is. But in the slight chance that you don't, or have never even visited, I'm Oliver Harken Derry. I'm twenty now, but I was seventeen during the summer of 1993. That summer started out like normal: my parents went to visit the relatives, my older sister went on a secret road trip, I started a prank war with my eleven younger siblings... but then the crazy shit happened. Stuff, I'd never expected. I'd like to blame a lot of what happened on Penny Harris (one of my foster sisters), and her brothers, but it wasn't exactly ALL her fault. The circumstances just weren't on our side, apparently. We could've never expected any of it. As I'm finding out, my family is destined to be in the midst of trouble, at all times. Lauren is a very pretty and smart girl and she always wins awards at every assembly. One semester at the assembly, all went wrong and Lauren became the laughing stock for the entire senior class. On top of all that the class presidents begin to make fun of her, making her humiliation even worse. They even decide to prank her for the annual senior prank but while doing so something goes terribly wrong with the inclusion of tunnels, secret stairs, and ghost.
