One year has passed since the end of the First Contact War. As the Citadel commemorates the anniversary of the conflict that forever changed the galaxy, the fragile peace between humanity and the turians is already beginning to crack. On the fringes of Citadel space, a radical human group led by Jack Harper captures a turian hostage in a desperate search for the secrets hidden aboard a crashed turian vessel. Their actions mark the birth of an organization that will one day be known across the galaxy as Cerberus. Far from the political spotlight, human colonies are under siege by ruthless bands of renegade batarians, leaving innocent civilians caught in a conflict few seem willing to acknowledge. Meanwhile, mysterious signals echo from the darkest reaches of space, stirring fear among the oldest members of the Citadel Council. Memories of ancient wars resurface as whispers spread throughout the galaxy. Are the long-extinct Rachni returning... or has an even greater threat awakened? As if that were not enough, buried secrets from both humanity and the turian hierarchy begin to surface-truths capable of destroying the hard-won peace forged after the First Contact War. If exposed, they could ignite another interstellar conflict before the wounds of the last have healed. To uncover the truth, the Citadel forms a multinational task force composed of soldiers, scientists, diplomats, and specialists from across known space.. But in a galaxy built on lies, every answer comes with a price... and some secrets were never meant to be found.

When Thane is revived in a similar fashion to the way Cerberus had revived Shepard, he learns that the galaxy is not as he left it. The Reapers are gone, Cerberus is gone, and Shepard has moved on. Having no purpose for his skills now, he follows the orders of the woman who brought him back, in a quest to eliminate another great threat to the security of Council Space.

Waking up in an entirely different universe, Aura has to adapt to her new life, which is not always easy. As she joins Shepard's team on Normandy SR1 and then later on the SR2, her future suddenly seems... frightening and not at all what she imagined it to be. Thank the Spirits for the Turian who was at her side from the beginning.

Just writing this for fun, now- there will be a Lot of in-depth mass effect lore mentions which I won't go too in-depth about, there will be cuss words and possibly some lemons in the future. Ryder finds a surprise for her and the crew of the Tempest courtesy of Liam's scheming as they all take a surprising break after finishing up work on the icy planet Voeld. Just a bit of fluff and fun to have all the characters working off each other while they pall around in an alien hot tub. Spoilers only up to finishing the main mission on Voeld, otherwise nothing past that point in game.

The end of the First Contact War was not met with complete acceptance. Hiding in the deep expanse of the Terminus Systems, those who were not willing to ally themselves with the 'human aggressors' made their own civilization and prospered from there.
