Not every monster is who we think they are. This short story challenges what us humans think are monsters. A crew and their captain face inevitable doom from their quest of exploration. This simple science fiction short story shows us that not all monsters are who we think they are.

Sometimes stories aren't about romance they aren't about forgiveness. Some may be about discovery of one's self or obsession. This story, however, is about a different kind of discovery and of a revenge chiseled in stone a life driven by pure instinct. Is it fact or is it legend. Joshua will discover his world is in turmoil since before his birth. This is a dark path he will have to travel in order to reach an ending for it all whether it be to overcome or surcome to fate.

Mostly free verse poetry written by me. Deals with things like love-more so unrequited, depression, anxiety... things along those lines. Please tell me if you guys like it! Since the beginning of the human race, there has been a silent, unspoken war between men and women, but one gender obviously can't continue with out the other. What would happen if men and women were no longer dependent upon each other? Would that war remain unspoken? A girl wakes up to a world in turmoil. She has no previous life. She was hibernated and incubated in a chamber until she was grown enough to carry out her only purpose. She was born to kill men.

Everything has to end eventually, and they thought this time was they're moment. But then something changes, something becomes a lot more real. Life has a silly way of pushing two people together sometimes, and this is definitely one of those times.

Reflecting on my life during and after it happened. The pain I saw, caused and edured. For you to read, for me to write and remember. For both of us to be glad it's passed.

When I met someone, who's destiny was the epitome of sad, I really thought I'd been in some epic adventure, like the old Greek poems. Needless to say, I also thought I'd score a good woman too... but I watched some stuff happen though, some real bad stuff, and that's when reality punched me in the gut and left me for dead. Nothing describes being in over your head more than having to face the fact that sunshine and rainbows isn't the conclusion in every situation. I certainly do know this, since my dad left, my mom turned to alcohol, and my sister was screwed over by the government. When you see people die, it isn't like it is in the books. You can't walk away from it the same. It changes you... and I don't think it changed me for the better. Speaking of my dad... the only fond memory I have of him is the story I asked him to tell me before I went to bed every night: 'There was a tree. It was a normal tree. It had leaves like a normal tree, a trunk like a normal tree, and roots like a normal tree. One day, a stupid man lit a match in the middle of this tree's home and dropped it by accident. The ground below caught fire, and the man only ran away from what he had caused. He didn't go to anyone for help, but just continued his life as the little match turned into a forest fire. Thirty days and thirty nights it lasted, until a heavy rain stomped it dead. When the smoke cleared, and people went in to mourn on the forest, what they found was that tree, still alive and well. They worshiped it for a long time, calling it an act of God, or a will of Satan himself, but the tree stood tall, never once faulting in the wake of their opinions. This tree, son, is what we will visit one day, and you should gather your own opinion on it..." Honestly, I never really could've guessed how that story played such an impactful role in my and many others' survival...

Majority of this was written in 2020 and 2021 and hence is inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic, the lockdowns, the mandates and the heavy toll it took on our mental health. Having so much time to think about life led to a lot of existential angst - why are we here? and how do we come to terms with our ever-looming mortality? how do we grapple with the losses of people that we love? where do people go after they die? how do we cope with death? In short, it is a collection about both the darkness and lightness of life - about the realities of this ever-changing world that we find ourselves in. It was a way of coping for me in those long dark months - and I hope you will also find pieces of comfort and solace within these words - knowing that you are not alone, in your angst, in your worries, on your dark days.
