He is a citizen of Dema. He is an escapee. He is an exception. He has seen the world outside these imposing walls. He tells me about these people he's seen. He hasn't been able to speak with them yet, but he gets closer with each escape. I'm going to ask him to take me the next time he goes. I want to see these people for myself. He sees others around him who are struggling too, and he wants to help them. But he can't. He can't even seem to help himself. He keeps thinking he sees his best fren, Josh, but he's still not sure if its really him or if the city has finally driven him insane. His life now is nothing but fear. And there doesn't seem to be a way to fix that. Maybe there is...but maybe there isn't. The thing is, he's too afraid to find out. Fear is how they control you. The bishops. They see everything you do. And they want to destroy you. So don't bother fighting. They'll come for you. They'll come for you when you least expect it. Possible trigger warning: self-harm/suicide. This story is about overcoming that and overcoming depression. But it might be triggering to some readers. I'll add trigger warnings to those parts.
