Ashley Underwood is 15 years old and lives in this little town called Abbeydale, in Gloucestershire, England. She's an excellent student, and her family sees a bright future for her. What they don't know, is that deep, deep inside, she's drowning, almost dying. And the worst part of this all is that she has a massive crush on her bully, Nathan James Sykes, the heartbreaker of the school, the guy that has all the girls eating from the palm of his hands. It's been over 7 months and Ashley is back in college. Attending everyday to class, she is joined by her new roommate Roxanne Monroe, a 20-year-old medicine student. It's been tough for her to accept her into her life, since her last roommate betrayed her through so many years, but deep inside she accepted that Roxanne was a really good person. Just when the school year is about to end, the university releases a communique that says they might not be able to return to school for the next school year. She hasn't spoken to Nathan since that plane ride she swore was the longest or her life, and all she has is a hoodie he left on the plane the last day she saw him, as a reminder of what could be her first and only true love. But, she's been talking to Jay, who never left her side since Nathan and her broke-up. She hated to admit that she talked to him only to know about Nathan, which was kind of truth, but Jay was also one of her closest friends. She's avoiding all websites and TV shows that talk about The Wanted, since now that they made it in America, they've been 24/7 on every gossip show she knows of. She doesn't want to see Nathan anymore. Her wounds haven't healed yet. But it's impossible to resist him. When the universe gets them together, she realizes that Nathan is not alone. He is joined by a familiar face, a famliar face she just wish she'd never met. She finds herself in the middle of a tough decision: safe her university or keep her pride?

It's been a long ride. With all the ups and down they've had in the past year and a half, Ashley and Nathan think their relationship is stronger than ever. However, they know they are still unstable. They're each other's fatal weakness: he's afraid of her leaving, and she's afraid of loving him, so she keeps leaving him. With 9 months left until Ashley finally graduates from college, Nathan has a lot of work to do and can't see her that much. Besides, Ashley's best friend—Roxanne Monroe—moved out with her boyfriend, so now Ashley has to deal with living alone. However, this is not a problem for her and manages to settle down pretty fast, getting a new job, even. She thinks her past will not haunt her anymore. She thinks that her life is now perfect and nothing can bring her down. She loves Nathan, and knows that all will be fine by his side, but what happens when a very unexpected person seems to hijack her? Her life will go down in spiral, becoming a living hell, and she will have to ask herself if she has the willingness to move on. But more important: will her love with Nathan outlast through all of the pain?
