When a cure for the walker infection is eventually developed-with Sylvia's help in locating critical resources-the world slowly begins to heal. Governments reform, civilization returns, and the undead threat disappears. Vampires are no longer hunted or feared, largely because of Sylvia's reputation as humanity's silent guardian. In the end, Sylvia remains in the rebuilt world, no longer a hidden predator or lonely wanderer, but a protector who helped humanity survive its darkest era and finally find peace again.
