Megan 'Meg' Joanne Harding is the daughter of famous storm chasers Jo and Bill Harding. Born during a thunderstorm, she was born to storm chase. A prodigy like her father, she can sense the changes in the atmosphere. She's been storm chasing with her parent's team as long as she can remember. After a failed experiment attempt goes wrong and Meg and her best friend Kate Carter lose three of their friends due to an F5, Meg tries to move on and finishes her degree in scientific weather prediction aka meteorology but she is still haunted by what happened that fateful day. After getting her degree, she is convinced by Javi, a good friend and member of Meg and Kate's old team, and Kate to return to Oklahoma to help with a project when she meets Tornado Wrangler Tyler Owens. But they don't meet for the first time. Meg and Tyler were neighbors growing up and Tyler often went on storm chases with Meg and her parents. During a storm when they were kids, Tyler made a vow that he would marry her one day. After a rodeo goes wrong, Tyler decides to go take meteorology classes and Bill takes him under his wing and teaches him everything he knows. Meg and Tyler go their separate ways; Meg to join Kate's team and Tyler to make his successful YouTube channel. After seeing Meg again, Tyler makes it his mission to not let her slip away again. He's determined to chase the storm chaser, Megan Joanne Harding. Hailey (Ice) Mitchell was a naval aviator in her past life, having graduated Topgun at the top of her class. She was the daughter of Pete (Maverick) Mitchell and niece to Tom (Iceman) Kazansky. It was said that she was the perfect combination of both Ice and Maverick, reckless like Mav and Calm, cold and no mistakes like Iceman. She was best friends with Rooster, Phoenix and Hangman. After their last mission together, Hailey's plane is shot down, colliding with the mountain just as a large bolt of lightning hits its peak. All she remembers is waking up in a field of wheat as a young child again and coming face to face with a young Kate Carter. She remembers the blonde smiley girl in front of her grabbing her hand, running back through the rain, thunder and lightning, back to the front porch where Kate's mom had been calling after her. After sitting down by the fireplace with blankets and hot cocoa, Hailey tells the two everything she can remember about her old life. The only thing she has left of it are the three sets of dog tags she never takes off, Mavericks, Iceman's and her own. From that day on, the girls were raised as sisters.
