Ino theorized they were merpeople once. Naruto said they must've been pirates. And Hinata theorized that her parents were sharks.

The small, pink blob of short hair pushed up to reveal a puffy face. Shisui's heart ached (because how could they, how could they she was only a child -- kids can't be THIS cruel.)
