A story about an ugly girl. I wrote this for a class this past semester. I wanted to address how ugliness is treated. I believe personhood shouldn't rely on beauty. I have been ugly all my life, and people would rather deny this fact than allow ugly people to be equal. I hope I can make people feel seen with this story.

The Haunted Mask is not evil, as Carly Beth finally sees. Instead, it is nothing more than the true face of humanity, the dark side of life that civilization has tried to hide with a mask of its own. hypocrisy is like a disease in our society, gives you the feeling of biasness, it discriminates between male and female , rich and poor, statuses etc, double standards should be eradicated not only from our societies but also ourselves.
