The story of Freya, Uhtred's bastard child. Freya is not know but Uhtred, follow her journey as she seeks her father after her mother is killed.

Cwen of Bebbanburg had known death. It frequented her life more than she could say in a short amount of time. Haunted by increasingly sexual dreams of Uhtred, King Alfred struggles leading Wessex whilst battling his sinful desires. As rumours of a new Dane force spread, Alfred defies Uhtred's advice and sets off on a journey to protect Mercia's lands, and hopefully find divine guidance.
