A young girl from the Rukon district finds her way sneaking into Ugendo to enjoy the gorgeous sights of the garden resulting in her getting caught one day by Jushiro Ukitake. Jushiro finds an interest in her and takes her into his family to keep her safe and to teach her the ways of being a Shinigami.

It doesn't matter where you are, pain always follows you. At first, I thought that life (or unlife) here will be impossible for me. I believed even the slightest mistake might cost me my life. Eventually, however, I met friends, became a high ranking shinigami, and even have a lover now. But even after so many good things, the pain eventually returned. Originally, when I was alive, I couldn't bear it. It broke me. But now? Now I'll embrace it. If someone is suffering, I'll be there to share the pain. As long as others are happy and safe, feeling pain, no matter how much, will be the same as greeting a friend of old.

The story about Kuchiki Sumire who erased her whole existence in the history of Soul Society in order to save Seireitei and her little ‘so called’ brother. Yamamoto captain-commander, previous 6th division squad captain Kuchiki Genryusai and her little brother are the only ones who hasn’t forgotten about her since she made them the only exception of her spell. She loved her little brother so much and would even sacrifice her own feelings for him. She wanted to protect little Byakuya all these times and she is willing to give anything to assure his safety, and the same goes to the person she yearns to protect most. He is the man who gave a part of his life just to save her. Sumire wanted to never hurt Jushiro anymore which is why she decided to leave him permanently and stay in the world of the living, although, when she tried to leave, an angel stroked a final blow to finish her off, resulting to her own memory loss. Will she be able to regain her past life and her loved ones?
