Earth, a small blue planet that inhibits entitys called humans, these humans have been there from billions of years, living unknowingly with giant monsters call Kaijus, They been against each other for years, in 1966 Japan, A giant of light appears from a distance planet and saved earth from mass destruction, this then start a new history, with new Warriors appearing on earth to protect it, however, it's been years since then, Humans are having a rough time against the Kaijus when they had reawaken after so long, so when the warriors return, they had chosen a new warrior to rise at the protector of earth.

Ichika Akimoto is a single mother trying to raise her daughter without her abusive ex-husband and his equally abusive parents interfering. Ultraman Shin is a single father trying to raise his own daughter while struggling to cope with the loss of his wife to a fatal illness. They are both bored and extremely tired of their lives. They wish the struggles would stop, that they can at least do something to make life better for themselves and their kids. But Shin isn't like that, he's more of a rebellious type then an actual heroic warrior, unlike his brother, Shinjiro/Ultraman Sky, part of the next Gen Ultra Brothers. Shin is always in the shadows of both his father and Shinjiro. That's the reason he's rebellious of his ultra warrior heritage and would rather not be a hero the traditional way, but his own way.
