Cursed with the ability to absorb emotions, and without the ability to filter them out, living in the mansion was a constant nightmare. So, sixteen and traumatized by the loss of her second brother, Helena followed Klaus out of the mansion and out of their siblings' lives. The next several years of her life passed in a blur of drugs and drinking, until an overdose landed Helena in rehab. Thirty days later, and sober for the first time in years, Helena promised herself that she would keep it that way, and two years later she finally left Klaus. With help from Diego, she got her life together, got a job, and started her life over without Klaus or her siblings. And she was fine, she was good, until Diego showed up one night, begging her to go home with him for their father's funeral.

Joey and Five Hargreeves had always been inseparable, so no when was surprised when she followed him out of the mansion after his worst fight with Reginald. But neither came back. After a terrible first attempt at time travel, Joey and Five find themselves spending decades in a post apocalyptic future until finally, finally, Five finds a way back. On April 1st, 2019, two thirteen year olds witness the end of the world. Forty years later, on March 24th, 2019, they get the chance to stop it.

One of these women, a dirty, poor, and sick widow on the Åland Islands of Finland, died in the process of giving birth to what would be the last of the eight children eccentric billionare Reginald Hargreeves would adopt into his project, The Umbrella Academy. Her adopted family would find out very quickly that she was special not only due to her ability to shift between dimensions, but also her comprehensive medical complications. A stroke at infancy, heart murmur, and Lymphoma to name a few. Abused by Sir Hargreeves for being paramount to central intelligence, the Hargreeves children are raised to believe that Ragna's ability only allows her soul to shift between planes (hence her codename, 'The Shift'). However, it isn't until after her father's death that a terrifying secret is revealed to Ragna: her powers truly encompass so much more. And the fate of the world might depend on her using them.

Aida (Ah-Ee-da) was born in Ethiopia on the 1st of October 1989. At age five, she was taken in by Sir Reginald Hargreeves and became number eight; living with, training with, and growing with The Umbrella Academy for 12 years. Her body automatically heals, but since age 17 has been resistant to heal others. After escaping the academy, Aida lived a turbulent life, never staying in one place or in one relationship for too long. Often taking thrill seeking and clumsiness to the extreme, and ending up dead for months to years before her ability brings the young woman back to life. (hence the unflattering nickname). When Reginald dies, she finally returns to her childhood home, and memories which she has tried to suppress resurface, along with relationships she's kept at multiple arms length. Meanwhile, a long lost friend returns with news the world is soon to be in ruins and apparently the seemingly emotionless yet perpetually anxious Eight is supposed to help stop it.

But when Number 5 disappears, The Girl freezes. Her body shows no signs of ageing or decaying, as if she has simply stopped. But when her brother returns from the future with warnings of an impending apocalypse, Quinn wakes up. And she remembers everything.
