Percival Weaver became the castle's court jester long before he ever chose his own fate.
As a young child, he watched his mother executed for a crime she committed within the castle walls. Rather than showing mercy, the king spared Percival's life on one condition: he would spend the rest of his days serving as the castle's royal fool.
While entertaining nobles to survive, Percival is assigned another duty- to keep the lonely princess Primrose smiling after she was diagnosed with an incurable illness. The years pass, and the two grow up together, forging an unbreakable bond that becomes the brightest part of Percival's otherwise miserable life.
Behind every smile, however, lies a promise. Percival secretly longs to avenge his mother's death, even as he dedicates himself to giving Primrose the carefree life she deserves.
But everything changes when Duke Tristan Atwood arrives.
Ambitious, charismatic, and incredibly power-hungry, Tristan seeks only one prize: the princess and the throne that comes with her. Tempted by the promise of heirs and a secure future for the kingdom, the king agrees to an arranged marriage. With Primrose's illness worsening and time slipping away, the wedding is set into motion before she has any chance to refuse.
Now, Percival must make an impossible choice. Remain the obedient jester and survive another day, or risk everything to protect the women he loves from a far worse fate than death. Even if it means sacrificing his chance at revenge and placing his own head on the executioner's block.
