Aura never knew her parents, she couldn't even remember her life before 18. She lives peacefully as the pack's midwife on the far edge of the territory. Ignorance is bliss. She helped to bring newborns into the world everyday, it made her feel light. Each cry of a precious creation filled her empty childhood, but were they enough for her to take flight? Lighter than her weight? Every night, Aura feels heavier, nightmares weighing her down. No one can fill her ache, not even him. He was a warrior, strong and could lift her to the stars, but did he want to? He never wanted a mate after his parents left. Even so, everything becomes heavy if you hold it long enough.

Not to serve the gods who abandoned them to their fate, but to save the world he and his companions swore to protect. For even if he gets beaten and defeated, even if he has to stand alone against the world, he will stand vigilant as its protector, to uphold the oath they all swore. For he is the Unbroken.

They didn't mean to hurt her. Not really. "Aloo. Panda. Motu." They were just nicknames. Cute. Funny. Said with love, wrapped in laughter. So she laughed too. She laughed until her stomach hurt.
