Ever since I was young, I believed in mermaids. In fact, I have seen one before. Not any of that fake stuff you see on the internet, I saw her swimming in the ocean. No one believed me though. But I knew they were real. As I grew older, my family and I went on a trip across the ocean for a year. When we got back, I got my own place on the beach in the Caribbean. Being a teenager is tough, and that's before you factor in the boys, jealous exes and developmental issues. -------------------------------------- "Hello? Who is this?" I asked. Silence replied my question. "Hello? Is anyone there?" I was about to hang up but then a quiet whisper came through the other end of the line. "Stay away from him." "What? who? Who is this?" Fear started to creep into my voice. "Just stay away, I don't want to have to do something drastic." Their voice was cold, sending shivers down my spine. "Who is this? Who do you want me to stay away from?" The other end was silent. "Hello?" I heard two consecutive beeps then looked at my phone; the call had disappeared, almost as if it had never happened. -------------------------------------- Mei has wished she was normal all her life. Getting bullied as a kid, mocked for falling over all the time, has left her trying to avoid as much sport as possible. Although, despite being dyspraxic, she still couldn't escape PE lessons, even when she got to Sixth Form. One PE lesson, she falls over in front of her crush and he offers to teach her to kayak. She has mixed feelings about participating in a sport after loathing them so much. Mei soon realises there's more to worry about than being clumsy, though, when her crush's ex brings herself into the scene.

"Who do you think will be waiting for you?" Besides them, the last car of the train is empty. Three strangers, meeting one another on the journey to the afterlife. It can be easier to talk to someone when you know you'll never see them again. But who will be waiting for them at the end of the line? Adrik wished he was living a nightmare. His grandpa just passed away, his parents are getting a divorce, and he has to move to a completely foreign part of the country. At least with nightmares, you get to wake up. Alaska, the Russian America, has a lot more in store for this 17 year old boy than the brochures could ever inform of. With only his mom at his side, he has to battle through his senior year of high school as a stranger. His dad is back in Florida, and the only thing Adrik has to remember his grandfather by are his glasses. However, when Adrik finally takes a glance through these ancient lenses, his whole perspective is going to change. His problems now won't seem to matter at all compared to the problems he will encounter once he takes that first glance. Disclaimer: mental illnesses are present in this story, however, I mean no offense to anyone by anything said in this content. Also, I do not wish to trigger anyone who may be struggling.
