Après une longue absence, Riftan revient enfin au château de Calypse. Pourtant, son retour ne signifie pas la fin des épreuves. Une nouvelle menace se rapproche, et cette fois, Maxi pourrait être directement visée. Entre les batailles, les blessures, les secrets et les malentendus, leur amour sera mis à rude épreuve. Riftan fera tout pour protéger Maxi, même si cela signifie la repousser pour la garder en sécurité. Mais Maxi n'est plus la jeune femme fragile qu'il croit devoir protéger. Elle veut rester à ses côtés. Même lorsque le danger approche. Même lorsque Riftan lui demande de partir. Parce qu'elle a compris une chose : elle ne veut plus seulement être celle qu'il protège.
