Eret Soren is still a man with more secrets than she likes without hardly a sense of self-preservation, fearing none of the dangers on sea besides that of his captain. It's this that leads Marina to question his very existence, along with what broke apart their friendship all those years ago, but first she must worry about her own fate. What has a man with a history of never leaving survivors have use of her for? Suddenly these two find themselves surrounded by dangerous and otherworldly creatures, and Marina finds herself offering her help in Eret's mission in exchange for his help to escape. Now the two of them must team up with a wary, reluctant merman and an overeager young lass to retrieve something lost. A merprince needs to choose a girl, but no mermaid interests him. He then is advised to go to the surface, where he learns that love isn't something you can find one day and expect to have forever. And then he meets a harpie, a beautiful bird woman.

My Dear Reader, Mermaid legends exist in most cultures all over the world. Some of these legends are not unlike cautionary morality plays. Many of these myths are romantic, beautiful, fantastical things. This story is neither of those. Based on the legends from Orkney and Norway, this tale (tail, ha!) is of a darker kind. Sabrina Wells lives with her surf obsessed hippy Aunt Clara on the sands of Malibu beach. Sabrina never much cared for the water after her parent's ship sunk in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. A few forced surfing lessons and the indulgence of salt water strengthens her hatred for the water. Until one day of surf 'fun' a shiny orb caught in a wave catches Sabrina's attention.
