Lekan Adeyemi is thirty years old, a successful investment banker, and doing everything right - including dating Ayomide Coker, HR Manager at an oil and gas firm and the kind of woman everyone expects him to marry. Imade Osazee is eighteen, a law student at the University of Lagos, his next-door neighbor and younger sister's best friend, the girl he has pampered and taken as a baby sister since the day she was born.
She has been in love with him since she was sixteen. He has been trying not to notice her since she stepped out of a boutique changing room in a champagne-gold dress after her eighteenth birthday, and changed something in him. What starts as a congratulatory letter after her Miss UNILAG pageant win becomes a correspondence neither of them can stop or name. And what cannot be named eventually has to be said - to each other, to their families, to a world that had very different plans for both of them.
This is not a simple love story. It is a story of the clash between personal desire and familial expectations. It is the story of two people who found something real in the wrong place at the wrong time and chose it anyway. It is a story of two women who decide that they have to get what they desire the most, by any means necessary.
