Becoming Me
At twenty, Sade Adeyemi should know who she is.
At least, that's what everyone keeps telling her.
Seven years ago, she left Lagos behind and moved to England with her family, carrying childhood memories, friendships, first love, and dreams of becoming a doctor.
She thought leaving Nigeria meant starting a new life.
She didn't realise it would mean losing pieces of the old one.
Now, caught between the girl she used to be and the woman everyone expects her to become, Sade is struggling to find where she belongs. Between family expectations, academic pressure, complicated friendships, homesickness, and a love she never expected, growing up becomes less about having everything figured out and more about discovering what she actually wants.
Because sometimes you don't find yourself by becoming someone new.
Sometimes you find yourself by remembering who you were before the world told you who to be.
This is Sade's story.
This is her journey.
This is her becoming.
