Mazik wants to explore the unfathomable caverns carved by his ancestors, but the city of Skoh refuses allocate the resources he needs, so Mazik has taken to stealing what he needs and exploring on his own -- and getting caught doing so. His sister Elise, a member of the city's religious leadership, is usually able to get him out of trouble, but when Mazik finds himself imprisoned at the same time as a blasphemer from another region, the leadership decides to take more drastic measures.
