It is essentially every teenager's dream: Hit a button and drown the world out. But what happens when the music stops?

A short story I wrote for my english class. It's about a person that is in a year long coma after they tried to kill themself. The person has no name, gender, colour, etc. What the person looks, sounds, dresses, etc is all up to you.

In this compelling and challenging personal story, the author embarks on a seven-day journey without their phone, offering an honest and reflective account of what happened. Initially, the absence of the phone creates a sense of withdrawal and disconnection, with the author feeling anxiety, silence, and boredom as they navigate through the first few days. As the challenge progresses, however, the author begins to experience moments of clarity, rediscovering the present moment and finding joy in simple, phone-free activities. But there's also a growing sense of isolation, as the author struggles with the fear of missing out and feeling left behind in social conversations. As the week goes on, the author realizes how much time they had spent mindlessly scrolling and how reliant they had become on the constant flow of notifications. Despite these benefits, the temptation to return to the digital world never fully disappears. On the seventh day, when the phone is powered back on, the author reflects on the balance between freedom and the convenience of staying connected, ultimately recognizing the importance of finding a middle ground between the two. This story challenges readers to examine their own relationship with technology and consider the potential benefits and drawbacks of disconnecting from the digital world, even if only for a short time.

UNPLUGGED takes us into the not too distant future. Our world as we know it is amplified and a stronger version of what we have now and 'better' in the eyes of the new ruling leaders. This 'new world' celebrates success by an extreme polarity between those who have it and those who don't. The 'new world' has different 'wards' of communities who don't mix and generate/work in different occupations to keep the 'new world' functioning. These wards are essentially slums and kept controlled by the government and told how to behave and what to do and never travel out of their own area. These people are called the 'Grey people'. The government and the rich people live in an entirely different area of the new world and live an opulent and wonderful lifestyle on the back of the hard work of the Grey people. They are called the 'Absolutes'. This is their 'reward' for being the 'chosen' ones.
