They still crave it to purify themselves--no matter how many 'etoiles' (their term for ethereally beautiful men and women)--they gain to purify them from 'Mama' and 'Papa's touches that they vaguely remember at all. They thought it was just discipline. The dollies said no.

Because just like her face that's how she made them feel. She was Heaven. Ironically, no one has ever made her feel that way, not until she met this handsome and well-respected musician. He made her feel important, but she knows there is always an exchange. However, she still fell for his charms and gentleness even though she knew she shouldn't. She doesn't deserve him nor does he deserve someone like her. In fact, she is the wrong person to fall for. It would be a huge mistake for a person to fall for her. Why? Because unlike what people call her, her life is nowhere close to being Heaven.
