This is my first poem. I hope you enjoy reading it. This poem is for someone whose heart is shattered into pieces, yet still longs for the one they love. A collection of verses born from raw emotions, delightful feelings, and lingering thoughts. These are the words we whelmed from ourselves and from the world. An overwhelming pain we carry WITHIN us; unspoken words that create a boundary in silence, where distance leads to being misunderstood in a chaotic world, we never spoke out. In the end, it's just a word we never spoke clearly.

This free verse poem explores the frustration of feeling emotions deeply while struggling to express them aloud. Through imagery of swallowed words, silence, and physical tension, the speaker describes the isolation that comes from being unable to communicate vulnerability-even with someone they love and trust. As the poem progresses, it shifts from internal conflict to the strain this silence places on a relationship. The speaker recognizes their partner's patience and willingness to listen, yet remains trapped by instinctive emotional walls they do not know how to lower. The poem ultimately becomes both a confession and an apology, acknowledging the pain caused by emotional withdrawal while expressing a desire to heal and become more open. Themes of vulnerability, anxiety, fear of emotional exposure, love, guilt, and healing run throughout the piece, giving it an intimate and deeply personal tone.
