Wealth was what let them break laws and never get caught all the while maintaining a pristine image. Raised in wealth meant you had the world at your hands, well most of it. Oliver Prescott couldn't have the sun, which in this case was Elaine Knox. This was most likely due to the fact that in the solar system he was the moon (or rather the darkness that consumed the sky) and rarely do the two make an appearance together.
