Set during the Uruguayan civic-military dictatorship and Operation Condor, the story recounts the harrowing descent into horror of doctors Gustavo Lambert and Martha Santana after being captured by repressive forces at their chalet in Salinas. Transferred to the Punta Gorda mansion-a clandestine detention center known as *El Infierno Chico* ("The Little Hell")-they fall under the yoke of the sadistic Captain Alberto Méndez.
The dramatic core of the story rests on the complex metamorphosis of Alicia Schull, a former comrade-in-arms. Having suffered devastating losses, Alicia feigns integration into the military structure, donning the enemy uniform to become a key figure in SID (Defense Intelligence Service) intelligence. She engages in a risky game of seduction and psychological manipulation with Captain Méndez to buy time and protect her friends from torture.
The plot culminates in a frantic, violent escape aboard a military Ford Maverick along the Montevideo waterfront. Evasion of police patrols under bursts of submachine-gun fire ends only when the car crashes into the gardens of the Swedish embassy.
