Wakatoshi took two quiet steps closer. His massive shadow falling over you. He stood there for a full minute, utterly baffled. The varsity team had been shouting, diving and squeaking their shoes just fifty feet away, yet your breathing was perfectly slow and even. The stoic ace knelt down. His large, calloused hand hovered over your face for a second before he gently brushed the leaf away.
That was the exact moment your eyes fluttered open. You blinked up into the serious, dark eyes of Shiratorizawa's undisputed ace. Instead of apologizing or stepping back, Wakatoshi remained knelt in front of you, looked straight into your eyes, and spoke with his characteristic, unfiltered honesty.
"You will catch a cold if you sleep here," he said, his deep voice vibrating in the quiet air.
"And... I have realized that I watch you more than I watch the ball. You should stay by my side from now on."
It was the most blunt, unromantic confession possible, yet it was entirely, purely him.
