Leo and Nico moved into an apartment together. It was a mutually beneficial agreement, y'know? Neither of them had to be third wheels, they could remind each other to sleep, win-win. But then, what were these feelings Leo was feeling? (Eloquent, I know.) And Nico, well, he was disgruntled that everyone - including Will - had picked up on his feelings for Leo before he did.

Nico didn't want to be noticed. That was until a certain someone came into his life.

"Okay, think of it this way," and with that, Leo offered out his hand, pinky outstretched. "We make a deal. Hades likes deals right and you're his kid? This is your jam here." "I don't gamble." Nico deadpanned. Spent too much time in a casino for that. And he is not Hades when it boils down to it. His father may like his bets and wagers, but Nico's luck is bad enough to warn him against it. "Not a gamble. A deal." Leo stressed. "It's a fling. No strings attached. Just some self growth, high school type of relationship, learning how to date because you're so socially stunted type beat. You get too busy, or if I do, building this ship, we walk away with no hard feelings." Or: Like recognizes Like. And it's never a great idea to enter a hidden relationship with someone just for the hell of it, no matter how convincing their arguments get. Nico Di Angelo wasn't one for pretenders. He kept things real. He confessed he was gay, everyone turned against him. His few friends were Hazel, his sister, Jason, who knew he was gay first, Leo, who was also gay, and his friend Reyna, who acted like a big sister. They protected him from all the bullies, except one. Percy Jackson.

Leo ran away from another foster home. But he comes across Nico, who reluctantly let him stay. Both face problems of their own, yet they somehow manage to get through together.

Nico has a secret and Leo tries to find out that secret and more of Nico's past. Nico can see through Leo's fake smile and tries to find out who the guy behind the mask really is.
