One warm spring day, Val is relaxing on her bed, reading about the news, and thinking back to when she arrived in the U.S. as an immigrant from Venezuela, with her parents, almost seventeen years before. She is surprised when her adorable Minnesotan friend (or more than a friend) shows up to hang out. In the process they connect with one another, have some awkwardness, eat together, and enjoy one another's company, while their love continues to blossom like a beautiful centaurea cyanus flower. Riley confesses to having a crush on Val, but Val has bad news for her younger friend. I loved this film and wanted to do a fanfic for it. That said, I absolutely don't ship them personally, but I liked the idea of writing an angsty crush rejection fic. Also, I know nothing about Hockey.

After having a breakdown at summer camp, Riley reevaluated her life in preparation for high school. Little did she know she would have new revelations about herself and a new crush on... another girl!? chaos ensues
