While In America hunting down her prey she runs into a young lady and her accompanying dog. Set In the world of Skulduggery Pleasant after the events of Dying of the light. A war torn Valkyrie stuck between her old life or the new one she's made in America. Haunted by the things she's done, should she return? Skulduggery is gone, sucked into parallel dimension. There is no official plan to save him. But Valkyrie's never had much time for plans... On her quest to return the skeleton detective home, Valkyrie seeks the help of the illusive Nicasia Waters but what she finds isn't quite what she bargained for. Meanwhile Billy-Ray Sanguine and recently released Dreylan Scarab form a group to move against the Irish Sanctuary. Enlisting the help of a mysterious blue eyed girl, they have one goal in mind; revenge. - - - - - So this is set around Dark Days and may continue into Mortal Coil. Valkyrie gazed out the window. It hadn’t rained in weeks. The land outside was parched, an unprecedented heat wave, the weathermen said. The cave had been cool and clear, but back out in the sunlight, Valkyrie could feel her thoughts slipping away from her into a restless haze. Skulduggery was still tapping his fingers, a quick, rhythmless beat. Another pointless case. Valkyrie had expected this—after all, the end of the world can only come so many times in the span of a few short years. But Valkyrie had also expected something. The past few months had been filled with cases like this one. Simple, silly, pointless thefts. It was boring. It was maddening. She wanted to punch someone who deserved it.
