Scrums and Bananas tells the tale of fifteen year old Jonathan Jones, or JJ as he’s known throughout the valley. Set in beautiful Ebbw Vale, South Wales, JJ, a youth rugby player seemed to have it all, until his Dad announced he was re-marrying; taking his vows the second time round to a man called Mike! With an alcoholic grandmother, a mother who’s certifiably bonkers and a next door neighbour who’s priorities in life are Coronation Street and silk dressing gowns, dealing with his father's new found sexuality is certainly not the easiest of tasks. Then there’s an accident and JJ is forced to reconsider his beliefs and morals on every level. Will there be a ‘Just Married’ sign at the final whistle, or not?

A woman runs from everything. A songbird joins her from nowhere, singing colors and images. A whisperer finds the pair among a field of poplars and graves. A dark and vicious viper stalks them from deep in the earth. They must flee from the Viper, at any cost. They must reach their safe haven--Aeolia. On the way there, the woman and bird pass strange and foreign places--including the Bridge to Infinity, where they are blessed by the Mist; Canvas Valley, where they walk along Aeolian train tracks; Seasons' Spiral, where the seasons fight on an open savanna; Dreams' Lattice, home to a grand tamperer; and many more. Along the way, new creatures help the woman and bird. But every time the Viper comes close, they choose to run--until at last they can't any longer. They must fight or die.
