Valvesonly is the best Trunnion Ball Valve manufacturer in USA. Trunnion ball valves are used to start and halt media flow in pipes. The ball of a trunnion ball valve is linked to the trunnion on one end and the stem on the other. Because the ball is permanently attached to the trunnion, it maintains a proper seal on all sides and prevents excessive torque from being imparted to the stem. As a result, a trunnion ball valve designed for greater pressure applications may seal better and require less torque to turn.
TRUNNION BALL VALVE VS. FLOATING:
The ball is forced against the downstream seat by the in-line pressure in a floating ball configuration, generating the tightness. The ball must be spun against both the in-line pressure (p) AND the friction of the seats as it moves from closed to open. In other words, both in-line pressure and the nature of the valve seats contribute to the torque required to operate the valve. When operating pressure (p) and/or valve size increase, or when the nature of the seat is made more robust, the amount of torque required increases dramatically (that is, metal seat). The ball is put into a central bottom shaft in a trunnion layout (the trunnion).
