A human girl named Violet moves to a brand new town in another state with her father and step-family in the late 1850s. She ends up being enrolled in a school where freaks consider her the freak. She eventually meets a boy who seems different from all the others in the school and she soon figures out that he has a dangerous secret. A secret that could possibly spell the end of her life if she figures out what it is.
