Based off the last episode of Backstage Season 2, before Carly and Vanessa do their winter portion of the dance. At the beginning of the year Vanessa Morita thought things would run smoothly, after all she had recovered from an injury not to long ago. What else could possibly happen? A lot. Now it's the end of the year and she has discovered that things didn't go as planned. These are her thoughts on her sophomore year at Keaton.

What if??? While I was watching backstage season 2 for the twentieth time in a row I started thinking about some different storylines from when Beckett and Vanessa meet to when they become a couple and here is a storyline if things were different

Every few years the country of Illea grants thirty five lucky girls the chance of a lifetime called The Selection. These young women are transported to temporarily live at the luxurious palace as they compete for the Prince's heart in order to become Illea's future Queen. Seventeen year old Vanessa Morita was never interested in anything relating to the royal family, much less The Selection. All she ever wanted was to become a professional dancer. That is until her family began having money problems and they weren't able to pay for her school's tuition. Suddenly she saw things in a new light and realized that the only way to make her dreams come true was to enter the selection. This story is based off The Selection and Backstage, I own neither of them.

Keaton is opening its doors to new students, expanding their music and dance departments, and even trying to open their doors to gifted athletes. Maya Matlin and Craig Manning, two incoming musicians may face some challenges adjusting to their new atmosphere. Cam and Drew feel strange, being two jocks entering a new atmosphere. Zig, who used to be the best dancer at Degrassi, is now just another dancer at Keaton. Miles and Craig seem like enemies, until they find out each other's secrets, will they be able to face their own problems with each other's help? Maya is the youngest transfer, in the eighth grade, is she really ready for high school yet? Cam and Drew need to adjust to not being the kings of the school. While Cam begins adjusting well, Drew cannot handle it, how will these two jocks survive their new high school? Will they all have what it takes to make it through Keaton?
