George Wickham: Meryton's man of mystery. Every girl in, or near, Meryton is out of her senses about him for the first two months of his arrival. But who is he, and what has he been doing since he left Pemberley with his three thousand pounds? When he walks into a room, George Wickham is the happy man towards whom almost every female eye is turned, and, for a while, Elizabeth Bennet is delighted to be singled out as the object of his attention. Disappointingly for those anticipative ladies, George Wickham has had a complicated past; a past which prevents him from marrying any of them as he has neither the means nor the talent to support a gentleman's lifestyle. And he already loves another. Unfortunately for him, the independent lady he has fallen in love with is sensible. She knows and loves him for what he is, not what he pretends to be and until he has some security of his own, she will never risk hers by marrying him. Step back inside the delightful world of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and accompany Wickham along the twists and turns of his travels from Cambridge, through London and Ramsgate, to the seemingly safe and insignificant side-turning into Meryton. Unbeknownst to him, this is a detour which will forever alter his journey.

There's this moment in the 2005 movie adaptation which makes me laugh because Mr. Darcy is so cold and aloof... and that's the moment where Elizabeth asks, "Do you dance, Mr. Darcy?" Presumably just making an effort to be friendly. And he says, "Not if I can help it." in a very matter-of-fact way. What makes it even funnier is that later, at the Netherfield Ball, he asks her to dance, and she is surprised and agrees despite the fact that she doesn't like him. The "Do you dance" scene directly precedes (in the movie) the scene where Darcy tells Bingley that Elizabeth is tolerable but not handsome enough to tempt him... so that is the moment which ingrains in the mind of the town that Mr. Darcy is a proud, disagreeable man. But, I wonder how it would have gone if he answered differently to her question...

Inspired by my favorite novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen I often wonder how the story of P and P might have been different if everyone in the story, such as Jane and Charlotte, Bingley, Richard Fitzwilliam, and Georgiana Darcy conspired to get Lizzy and Darcy together...

This is what I have learnt at school as well as at home. I thought it could help you guys if you were interested.
