Jessica is a fugitive, running from her past. All she wants to do is escape and disappear. That's when she discovers a ragtag group of heros: Vox Machina. Though a rocky start to their meeting, Jessica pleads for them to help her find safety. Dive into a tale of beloved characters and meeting new ones along the way as Jessica finds what it means to truly have friends, belonging and maybe romance. I do not own the characters of Vox Machina. All credits go to their creator.

Well this little piece started off as a comic about when Vax and Vex were taken from their mother, that I'd had rolling around in my head for a while. But I'm a crappy artist, don't have the patience to re-draw the same faces again and again, and it basically turned out as stick figures...so that idea was scrapped...my second attempt was a short story, and instantly the inspiration clicked, like the story was writing itself. In all the many, and long, episodes of Critical Role, the twin's mother has almost never been mentioned, and I wanted to explore her character. I don't know where this woman came from, but she was a beautiful person, and it was so heartbreakingly wonderful to write about her.

Love was supposed to be a precious thing, not that I'd ever had that experience. Not many could see past my financial worth in comparison to what my heart held - some would say that was worth so much more, but who could tell when anything that connected me to that life had been cut away?
