Lucinda makes an unsettling discovery about the Queen of Darkness and after sucking the Shadow poison out of Jessica, they all go to Gem Land to claim the right on their thrones where it is decided to invoke the ancient rituals. On returning, they are warned by the Alchemic Presage, marking the end of either them all, or The Queen of Fear. Jackson is manipulated by Layla and brought to a dangerous sacred ground with the other Seven Bearers where they lose an important person. Third part of Ventures of Gem Land series but you can directly read the second book (Gorgon's Curse) and then read this one. The Black Time is mainly introductory.
