Spawned from a lab experiment gone awry, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, and Raphael live in the sewers beneath New York, going up to the surface ever now and then against their sensei Splinter's wishes. However, a kingpin named Shredder terrorizes the city along with his Foot soldiers. An teenage girl who wants to be a journalist, April O'Neil, and her mentor, Vern, team up with them along with a mysterious mercenary/kunoichi named Okumura Nari. Two years later, Shredder escapes from custody and joins forces with Baxter Stockman, a mad scientist who plans to use a serum to take over the world. Along for the ride are Bebop and Rocksteady, two dimwitted henchmen who provide plenty of muscle and the notorious Kraang. Luckily, three more allies join the team, Casey Jones, a cop and vigilante, Maya Jackson, Jones' apprentice, and Seraphina Anderson, their bubbly informant.
