"I want to make everyone around the world smile!" A saying that was only reinforced by a fateful meeting oh so long ago. When Emu Otori was a child, she had run off into the woods outside her safe town of Aetherhelm. This small act of defiance is what led her to have an encounter with a rather uncanny figure. Someone the same age as her no doubt, but even as a child, Emu could sense how sad the other was. And so, her wish had been ignited further. "But it is told that eventually, all of the townspeople left the alchemist inventor." Rui Kamishiro, an aspiring inventor who thinks out of the box. His inventions have earned him credibility throughout the town of Aetherhelm, however...no one wants to work with him. In fact, despite his fame, he has never had any apprentices or friends...at least...not until that one day... Mafuyu...shouldn't be alive. For someone representing the Earth's element, it is quite ironic that she is the one poisoning it. "I will save you." Baseless words uttered by a wind spirit lost and yet still fighting for her best friend. As waters flow, so does life. And such is the very thing that keeps Mizuki Akiyama alive. Even if the world is rough and against their very form of life, they will choose to keep living it, until hopefully, this flow of life becomes smooth once more. Ena is always left behind. She wants to keep up and gain recognition for her work. And yet...no matter what she does she will never be good enough. Tsukasa and Nene. Two famous performers haunted by the spotlight. Can they ever stand in the blinding lights again or are they fated to live in the shadows forever? In a world full of mischief, melancholy, madness, and most of all music, can these musically-inclined individuals learn what melodies have been hidden away inside their hearts? Or will they let these songs go unwritten? [A primarily focused Niigo + WonderlandsxShowtime fic with Leo/need, MMJ, and VBS crumbs]

Just a short story I wrote for fun the other day as a tribute to one of my favourite things in the world (and I think a lot of you writers out there will agree): sharp pencils. :D Now, the connection between such an ominous title and the mundane writing utensil we know and often don't appreciate enough thou wilt have to find out for thyself. Or don't. You could do either. =) Okay, for real though, my intention was to write a story that was as suspenseful as possible even though the main topic is something that one may consider quite unordinary. Enjoy!

She's been left behind by her childhood sweetheart. He's been jilted by his fiancΓ©e. Her sweetheart left her for his fiancΓ©e... Miss Rosemary Griffiths has been looking forward to the day her childhood sweetheart returns from his year abroad. He promised to make their secret engagement public, and her life will finally start moving forward. But he returns, and there is no engagement. There is only the discovery that Frank has 'outgrown' her. He has decided he wants a woman of passion, and Rose is too calm and practical. That, and he is to inherit both a title and an estate from a distant relative and has found a wife with money. Rose is left with broken dreams, a shattered heart, and a list of things they were going to do once they married. So, she sets out to 'undo' all the things on that list by doing them backwards. Or in the opposite direction. Whichever. She is determined to prove that she can be contrary when she puts her mind to it. But this is 1870s England. Going anywhere as a young unmarried woman requires that she go with her doting, but overwhelming, family in tow. Then, while contriving to take the stage to the resort that was supposed to be her honeymoon destination, she meets Mr. Walker. When the two of them keep bumping into each other at the resort, it comes to light that they are there under similar circumstances. It only takes a short conversation for Rose to figure out their situations aren't just similar; they have a detail named Frank in common: Mr. Walker's former fiancΓ©e is going to marry the new Duke of Windham. The two wind up in several hilarious escapades as they try to help each other finish the things on their lists to spite the people who hurt them, while also trying not to get themselves into a romantic entanglement with each other. But when Mr. Walker's list is finished, will that put an end to their burgeoning friendship? Or have they stumbled upon something neither thought possible?

They whisper of a pale woman seen at dusk-sometimes walking the corridors, sometimes standing in the rain, always alone. In MIST-SHI-MUS: A NOVEL OF CAPTIVITY, everyone is bound to something. Captive heart. Captive slave. Captive secrets of the past. In 1860, Englishwoman Jeannie Naughton arrives in the Pacific Northwest. A young widow hurt by scandal not of her own making, she must use a false name to keep her reputation. When she meets Jonas Breed on an island under joint US and British military occupation, she senses a kindred spirit. Captured as a youth and held as a slave - a mist-shi-mus -by the Haida Indians, he uses his hard experience to move on and create a new life in the islands. Jeannie wants this for herself, especially after the tragic death of her little son. Jeannie stays with a British officer’s family but soon discovers the island supports an unusual community of Hawaiians and Indians. Breed introduces her to his many friends among them in Kanaka Town. When his Hawaiian friend, Kaui Kalama falls ill with small pox Jeannie volunteers to care for him. Her actions endear her to the settlement. Restless in the English society at the British encampment, she is drawn to the free life Breed offers. Jeannie loves Breed, but many distrust him for his friendship with the Haida and local Indians. He opposes American smuggler Emmett Krill who traffics native women. When a high born Haida woman is abducted and killed, violence breaks out. When Krill and Breed fight, Breed kills him but Breed himself is critically injured. Friends help Breed escape. Hoping to meet with Breed off-island, Jeannie goes with Breed's friend, Andrew Pierce, to wait. Later Jeannie is told Breed died. Carrying his child, she feels her only choice is to marry Pierce. Twenty years later, Jeannie receives a note. Breed is alive! Now Jeannie embarks on a journey to find him, unaware she is stirring up an old and dangerous struggle of power and revenge at which she is the heart.
