Dorian Dallowmarsh is a man on the run. The necromancer thought he'd be safe masquerading as a vacationing professor at a seaside resort, but his attempts to lay low at The Beacon have failed spectacularly. Spirits appear with cryptic messages at the worst possible moments, and Bitzy, an exuberant young widow, has taken a shine to him. She even secures him an invite to an exclusive soiree: a séance featuring the famous medium, Madame Draga. Dorian assumes Draga's a fake. Most self-proclaimed mediums are. But when a ghost delivers a disturbing message, he faces a terrible choice: risk exposure by a medium who may be a bounty hunter in disguise or disappoint his new friend. Either way, Dorian's quiet escape plan is about to get very complicated! Prompt 72: A real necromancer sits in on a fake séance.

Raised as Hunters in a hidden counterinsurgency society in the late nineteenth century, nineteen year old Welsh twins Carys and Cadeyrn Llewelyn have led brutal, unforgiving lives filled with heartbreak and pain. As the only female Hunter, Carys has proven her place among the males, but not without a terrible price. And while Carys is as self-sacrificing as ever, it's up to Cadeyrn to make sure he's there to pick up the pieces. When a mysterious Hunter from London beckons the twins and their friends to the city to eliminate a target, self discoveries are made, relationships are tested, and wounds are reopened. _____ "Cadeyrn, everything we have been through, everything we have sacrificed has come down to this moment. Steamboats and trains make travel exponentially faster. Industry has become the crown jewel of the country. Stringent moral codes are disintegrating. Everything that we used to take for granted has been distorted. Amidst all of this revolution, I see women restlessly gazing out their windows. They want a share of this exciting, new world. I have been privileged to have access to it and I do not want to be the only one...but I do not know if I am the right person to bring about this change," Carys whispered dejectedly. Cadeyrn sat on Carys's bed and enveloped her in a brotherly embrace. "Do not say such things about yourself. You are as strong and determined as Mam was." Carys gave Cadeyrn a watery smile and he returned to his own bed. Carys turned her body around so that she was facing the window. The curtains were pulled aside so she could see the stars littering the night sky. The gentle slopes of the hills stretched as far as the eye could see and the darkened shadow of the village was a speck off in the distance. At this breathtaking sight, Carys finally let the tears fall. Each teardrop held her fears, her anger, and her sadness. Why would one need to find refuge in the shadows if there is nothing to hide? Only in a perfect world.

So I had to write a historical fiction novella for my English class. It was possibly the worst project I have ever had to do. Here's the final product! Clara, James, Rose, and their mother live in Bethnal Green, one of the worst slums of Victorian Era London. They live the common life of the poor, starving, and with little money. But that all gets turned upside down when the Old Nichol, the neighboring slum, gets cleared. What will they do when people try to forcefully take their apartment? NOTE: Based off of the Old Nichol slum clearing, but all characters and events based on them are fictional.

She never expected much from her visit to the Hartley estate - just polite conversation, quiet dinners, and perhaps a few compliments. She never expected to catch the attention of William Hartley, the charming heir everyone seems to adore. Though perfect, his brother is a different creature. He is notoriously quiet, unreadable, and far too observant. Often, his silence caused disruption. Though, something about the way the brothers look at her; one sees a future, one sees an obstacle. In a house full of expectations and carefully chosen words, Emmeline starts to wonder: what if the life she's meant to lead isn't the one her heart is quietly choosing?

SAMPLE CHAPTERS ONLY: Published in edited edition on Amazon *Trigger warning: small amount of physical and mental abuse in this otherwise loving and humorous story. After climbing the ranks from her humble beginnings of scullery maid to lady's maid, Nora Sharpe finds herself surrounded by luxury, refinement, and mostly peace. Finally happy and content with her life, Nora is now headed to Bath as a companion to the infamous and eccentric Lady Margaret, the Countess of Blakely. But, Lady Margaret sees something special in the young beauty and intends to turn her into a lady. Sponsoring Miss Nora Sharpe for a London Season will entertain Margaret's restless soul and quirky mind. Once she properly-or improperly-launches Nora into London's High Society, Lady Margaret plans to land Nora a titled husband, and the Cunning Countess will stop at nothing to get what she wants. Although grateful to Lady Margaret for such an extraordinary opportunity and kind gesture, Nora spends sleepless nights filled with worry and dread. As much as she loves daydreaming of the life the countess is offering, Nora knows with certainty it can never be. Should Nora unburden herself of the secret she's kept bottled inside for years? And if so, to whom can she trust? Or should she run while she still has the chance? Are the affections of an eccentric, loving, and stubborn countess, a devilishly handsome, mysterious duke, and a kind, romantic, and swoon-worthy earl enough to make Nora finally face the demons of her past? Book Two of my Victorian Novella series and can be read as a stand-alone book, but reading Book One, "The Heart of a Viscount" will give the reader more back history on Nora, my heroine in this one. A library, not bedroom romance.
