The weather changes. The cities get larger. Children grow. The people change and grow old. But not all of them. Some wander, their mind in another time. Some are forced to sleep whilst the world changes around them. Some are new to this time, despite being around longer than most live. Some live inside a system that refuses to acknowledge them. Some are hunted. But they all live. ...No. They all survive. They have yet to learn to live. To learn to fly. To learn to let go. Some stories are told behind closed doors. To children to keep them obedient. If you'd ask someone, they'd tell you the folk stories were crazy. Fake. But those who know better will warn you against brushing them off so quickly. "Do not pretend to understand the shapeshifter." "Doubt the Elves' easy smiles." "Don't assume Fae help you just because they can." "Never trust a phantom." "Don't stare too long at the ones that scream." Folklore is rarely just casual banter. Look closer. Who knows what you might find? The same people who doubt the stories don't have hunters for no reason... P.S. this story may or may not be slightly goofy

1867 - Morgue surgeon at one of London's most prestigious hospitals, Dr. Peter Ainsley is familiar with the smells of the dead and the dying but when the brilliant, young doctor is summoned to a small English town in the north his ability to keep his patients at a cold, comfortable distance is put to the test. Convinced the untimely death of a twelve year old girl, Josephine Lloyd, was an act of poison, Ainsley and the local physician Dr. Bennett must battle the wealthy and stubborn Lloyd family to gain access to the body of the girl, knowing an autopsy is their only chance to detect what ended the young girl's life. Even as her older sister, Lillian, languishes in bed fearing the poison will take her as well, the family remains obstinate. When Dr. Bennett is found dead in his own house, the rebellious Ainsley has no choice but to take matters into his own hands if he is to save the life of the beautiful Lillian Lloyd. The love-struck surgeon soon finds himself tangled in a web of deceit and betrayal ultimately leading him to the murderer he never suspected.

A lot of people know about Charles Dickens, but not many know about Mary Hogarth, the younger sister of Catherine Dickens (who is Charles Dicken's wife). Charles got extremely close to Mary when she moved in to their house at age 16 to learn from her sister on how to become a proper lady. Maybe a bit too close, for when she died at age 17 of an unknown illness, he requested to be buried next to her, and later divorced his wife Catherine! This is what I imagine it could of have been like if Charles did not treat Catherine very well (he probably actually didn't but my version is what did not happen, but could've). Charles took a fancy to Mary and despite being Charles being in love with her, she got even more close with her sister Catherine. Catherine's mood did change quite a lot but that was only due to her having 10 babies and being physically and mentally exhausted. This version is my version, and all characters rights go to them, theirselves, but these events did not actually happen but could of have if they did, so disclaimer this is not 100% factually accurate despite some things being true.

This is the first chapter of a detective story, which was an assessment for school. Please note that, though this is also about Kalyna Goulden, it is in no way related to 'Love, Lyn' and this story contains no fantasy aspects. Consider it a bit like an alternate universe. When 15 year old Kalyna's brother is found murdered in the streets of London, she vows for revenge. But she soon realizes revenge is not that easy, especially not if you don't know who to target it at. As Lyn and her little sister Lena struggle to come by as well as unravel the mystery that was their brother, they figure out a vital lesson: nothing is ever what it seems...
