Ki Centauri is a man with many faces. The life of a military peacekeeper is not a kind one, and the people he's lost are nearly as numerous as the ones he knows. Time and time again, lives slip through his fingers, and all he is left with is the black skies of people now gone. Yet human beings cannot live without connections. Somehow, there must be a way to find friends beyond the limitations of Crest and Clan and forge connections that last and truly matter. But is the pain of finding love in an often bleak and broken world worth the cost of of threading a family across the stars? An autumn afternoon :>

This book(I guess) is going to be composed of vignettes. They are either completely completely true or loosely based on my life. While you're reading you can tell what me you think of each vignette.

An introspective piece about another original character by the name of Gabhran. They are nonbinary and use they/them pronouns. The second vignette in my little series of OC vignettes.

Nivi came to NIST for her final year project. Nothing more. Definitely not him. He's a research scholar who walks into the lab like he owns the place; loud when he speaks, effortless in the way he takes over conversations, and annoyingly good at making everything look easy. Extroverted in a space full of quiet focus,the kind of person you notice even when you're trying not to. And somehow, he always ends up next to her when things go wrong. A spilled sample. A blunt correction. A casual "be careful next time." That's how it starts. He doesn't try to be special. He just is. And that's the problem. Because in a place built on temporary things-projects, deadlines, people ,Nivi starts feeling something that doesn't feel temporary at all. My Autumn is about a time when everything was supposed to be temporary... but didn't feel that way

There was never anything remarkable about these days. Most of them slip away before we even notice. A conversation on a bus. Winter light resting quietly on a window. A stranger sitting across from you for a short while, then gone at the next stop. They remain only as long as memory allows And memory is never gentle for long. These pages are made from such passing things. Not because they were extraordinary, but because they were once ours. We wrote them down not to hold them still, but to let them linger a little longer than dewdrops on blades of grass. And if, for a moment, they feel like they might also belong to you, then perhaps they haven't entirely faded.

Everyday Stories is a series of 30 short stories inspired by 30 strangers' photographs and written in 30 days. This collection was written in November, 2013, one photo each day. This project is my version of National Novel Writing Month, and for NaNoWriMo folks who might be interested, the total word count was ~34,000. That's plenty for me. (Find more at williamreagan.com.)
