Skyscrapers tower up around me. The light dusting of snow swirls on the ground and around my boots. People mill around--all on a different path. Some perhaps, are Christmas shopping. I, however, am just walking. Admiring the city decorations. A collection of ten vignettes featuring Zayn Malik.

A random collection of short stories/ drabbles/ flash-fiction/ ficlets. All work is original, and all characters and storylines presented in this collection are owned by me.

Short vignettes, stories really but shorter than most stories. Some of these are prose poetry, others a tad more narrative stylistically, but in any event they are snippets of life, told in fragments of under 600 words (with very few exceptions).

A series of vignettes make up this novel about a young woman involved in an automobile accident one afternoon on a desolate stretch of highway somewhere in the San Joaquin Valley. Ejected from the car upon impact, she lands on the gravel shoulder right alongside the debris stream of papers, bottles, and fast food wrappers. She finds herself in and out of consciousness and through a sequence of flash backs; moments from her life occupy her thoughts as she struggles to understand what has just happened to her. Broken dreams and disappointments scatter themselves across her mental landscape as family, friends, and strangers are all recalled in a myriad of settings and situations involved. Confused and often alone in her memories, she attempts to navigate and understand an environment she is not fully capable of doing. All her life, she seeks to belong but always finds herself in a different space, perhaps a no space of sorts while those around her go through the repetitions of daily life. Never taken into account, never considered, and never celebrated; she questions where she belongs in the world and in the end she realizes that she never really belonged anywhere at all.

THis is a "story" that asks questions that people with depression and anxiety ask themselves everyday.

This is some English vignettes I wrote for class based off of Sandra Cisneros "The House on Mango Street

"All they see is you, the fallout of an ambiguous ideal. Just another burnout lost in his own conscious, stumblin' blindly into an unwritten future." -Stumblin' The aim of this project is to take a series of fictional moments, a list of questions, a compilation of emotions, and take a snapshot of each; composing small self-contained vignettes that endeavour to unravel a number of ideas floating around in my subconscious. I want to try publish one short story a week on here, hopefully ending at around the 12-14 mark. This project will be intimate - it will explore parental relationships, drug usage, disease, and suffering of all orders of magnitude. And yet, it will in equal measure look upon the Universe with fading wonder, and remark upon the kindness and beauty which surrounds all of us, even if our circumstances prevent us from acknowledging it. Yes, my tales may be drenched in melancholy, but perhaps I will discover a degree of truth in the words I impose on this little exposition of mine. Only time will tell. A collision of conscience and consciousness. Enjoy.
