"Maybe it's better to be numb." The sociopath might know he is a sociopath. Or that rules apply after all. But when money is concerned, all that is uplifted. Or at least that's what Winston thought. A CEO thirsty for domination, without feelings, without a shred of heart. His soul is black and his gaze is empty. Until light shone inside it. But did it save him? When one had been numb for too long - how will their remorse hit them? Can they truly look back and understand the monster in them?

Alaric likes routine: a tidy morgue, a vanilla blood latte, and pets that don't bite back. He's careful. He's classy. He's practically a saint, if you ignore the triple-digit body count and the human pound in his basement. When one of his favourites escapes, Alaric is forced to do something truly dreadful. Go out into the world and be messy.

[Author Note] AotS is a Conclusion to my TTRPG series. In case you find it interesting - I could release Two Prequels later in the future. This story uses AI-generated illustrations for characters, locations, and key scenes. The writing is still the main focus and not affected by AI (with rare case of helping me to translate complex phenomena), but the images are here to make the world easier to imagine. Ashes of the Surface is a dark fantasy / post-apocalyptic story with long chapters. The writing style is meant to be clear and easy to follow. It does not describe every object down to the smallest detail, but it gives enough atmosphere and direction to understand the scene, the danger, and the emotions behind it. The illustrations are there to support that feeling. The story follows Yui, a brilliant strategist and researcher who wants to find a way to ease human suffering. But his goal slowly turns into a paradox: saving everyone is impossible, and every choice leaves someone behind. The weight of those decisions begins to break not only his plans, but also the way he sees the world itself. This is a story of ordered chaos - where action, satire, tragedy, strange humor, and moral questions can exist in the same chapter. Even when the path seems obvious, the outcome may still find a way to surprise you. The world itself was scarred by a planetary catastrophe. Much of the surface became poisoned ash, and countless lives were lost. But humanity did not disappear. From the depths of nomadic cities built upon precursor technology, people rose again - hoping to save their planet, survive its infection, and avoid repeating the mistakes buried in their own past.

Everyone knows about the heroes, and how they do the world so much good. Their flashy powers and respectful morals. Their oh-so-tragic pasts. But, what about us? What about the so-called "villains"? Are we just monsters hell-bent on world domination and power to all of you? We are people, and we have our own stories. We have reasons for why we are the way we are, just like your "heroes". We are in pain, too, but do any of you care? No. Nobody would bother to listen to the broken "bad guy" when there are heroes, good guys, to focus on and care about. Why? We're only doing what we've known our whole lives....

He is the Napoleon of crime, yet he felt like something was missing, a little excitement? Maybe. What about puzzles? Nope. How about a little game? Yes, yes that sounds fun and who better to play it with than the one and only Sherlock Holmes. Imagine, the worlds only consulting criminal and practical king of the underworld verses the worlds only consulting detective, the man on the side of the angels, but he knows who will win but at least Sherlock will prove a challenge, plus Moriarty owes him a fall.

What happens when the Ministry's most progressive idea meets its most dangerous prisoner? Jasiah Mordaunt thought he'd seen it all at St. Mungo's-until his unorthodox methods got him reassigned to the wizarding world's worst job: rehabilitating prisoners in Azkaban. His first patient? Barty Crouch Junior, the man who impersonated Mad-Eye Moody, bewitched the Goblet of Fire, and delivered Harry Potter to Voldemort on a silver platter. The Ministry calls it rehabilitation. The Aurors call it naive. Barty calls it a game. This isn't therapy. This is psychological warfare. From their first session, Barty makes one thing clear: he knows every trick in the therapeutic playbook. He graduated top of his class. He fooled Albus Dumbledore for ten months. And he won't fall for standard Mind Healer tactics. But Jasiah has secrets of his own. Banished from St. Mungo's for reasons he can't afford to reveal, Jasiah doesn't play by the rules. He brings coffee to a prisoner. He proposes a dangerous game: they take turns asking questions, and both must answer truthfully. What unfolds is an electrifying dance of minds-two brilliant, broken men circling each other in a cold stone room, each trying to unravel the other while protecting their own carefully constructed walls.
