If maroon was a person, it would be (reader). Every night she would perform a jazzy song at a restaurant downtown, every night at the bar she would sing a song for the people drinking, and sometimes for the waiters to catch a break, though outside of the stage she was a different person. Her job was just to make some money, yeah? It was only the 1960's, women had gotten rights about 40 years ago, cut her some slack. Eventually, When a young man named Rody, around his late 20's, soon accepted the job for some extra money to move out of his apartment as he worked hard. One of his friends told him to let loose for once and to stop by the bar, he then caught eyes with (reader), basically the queen of the color maroon, falling under her spell without her even trying, but her insane amount of bad luck might have drug him into a situation he wouldn't be able to forget, forever. Just maybe though, I may or may not be foreshadowing. Maybe this job wasn't as bad as it seemed...

Rody finds himself on his knees in the chilling cold after spending hours trying to get his girlfriend to answer his calls. He's utterly defeated, at his worst point in life ever. No Manon, no money-and he's just quit his job. Nothing can ever fix his broke pieces. Until a certain man shows up with words that might just glue him bakc together. But Rody doesn't know the extent of the deeds that Vince has done...

(art by racheldrawsthis!) this is basically a hadestown dead plate au told in novel format where rody and manon take the places of orpheus and eurydice. please note that a majority of the plot and some of the language in this fanfic is derived from the original broadway musical by anais mitchell and i have no intention of plagiarizing her amazing masterpiece, NOR do i own any of racheldrawsthis' characters or any of the studio investigrave games. this is simply me trying to merge my two hyperfixations into one mess of a fanfic lol. although, i do have one OC (magnolia lin) that will be a character in this story. anyway, enjoy! this'll probably be a trainwreck, but i'll be performing in hadestown in a few months as hermes, and this is all i have to channel my excitement. Rody couldn't belive it; muffled through his fingers, Vince was sobbing. Actually sobbing. "Wish I were Manon." * * * Alternative ending 3 (I think) and inspired by lyrics from Heather by Conan Grey. Angst and fluff (though ud have to get liek a microscope to see it) and yeah I'm bad at desc enjoy!
