What do you do when you're beyond depressed about being a nerd? Obviously spiral out of control. Addie Clemenson fits the description of a nerd to a tee. She plays the violin, takes all AP classes, and swims everyday after school. However, life seems pointless when day after day the same thing keeps occuring. So, for the first time in Addie's life she decides to skip class only to enjoy the empty, nearby park and sit under a tree. Excpet, Colson Wisterman, five-years in the making arch-rival notices her under that tree.

When I perform, I get really nervous. No matter how many times I've been on the stage, my heart never stops beating wildly. I have been to numerous places where I perform with either my piano or violin. I had gone onstage even when I don't want to. I had walked up the stairs and made my way to the middle of the platform, even if the nervousness I was feeling was eating me alive. Why don't I just run away? Why am I trying so hard to stand there when I feel uncomfortable? Why wouldn't I want to quit instead?
