OPEN NOVELLA CONTEST 2026 ENTRY All that was left of him was one voicemail she couldn't delete. She wanted to keep it, just to remember his voice - but every time she pressed play, something changed. A different word. A car honking. A way-too-long pause between words. There were details that didn't belong. She was not sure if she was revealing the truth about his death... or if the message was leading her somewhere she didn't know she could go.

( Inspired by the story: 100 voicemails, it was an amazing read~) Cameron has been on a trip for two to three months, being cut off from wifi and not knowing what is happening around home. But, when he returns to his solitary apartment where his best friend should have been, he gets lots of voicemails coming through. Every one of them unravel an important story that he has yet to solve...

This is a story told in Voicemails. And if you cry you have to vote, or comment, or just add the story to your reading list. Ok so this is from the point of view of a girl who has just left town. But the person sending her messages thinks she is dead. He is using voicemail to be his own personal vent. So that he could tell her stuff he doesn't want to tell anyone else. "I'm about to leave for patrol again so see you soon Kyouka! I love you!" Jirou shut off her phone, lightly setting it down on the coffee table in front of her. She laid back on the couch, staring off into the distance. The dim blue light from the phone illuminating her face served as the only light source in the old apartment. Those were the last words she ever heard from Kaminari.

In this tale, told purely through voicemails, we find a young girl desperate for forgiveness and for the love of her life to come back into it. Thing is we don't quite know what this girl did. All we know is the voicemails she leaves for him. Will all be forgiven? Will the dashing prince answer her string of missed calls?
