She offered a smile, true in spirit; she wanted him to go home safely, "It's alright. I understand. Thank you for everything." He opened his mouth as if to reply, but no words came out. Instead, she suddenly felt him press something into her hand and then his lips were on hers. The kiss was gentle and sweet, but she did not return it-it was over too quickly. She was too surprised react, and then he was gone. The shock it caused almost stunned her, but not quite. She had made a decision. She rushed toward the gap in the sky faster than she knew she could move. She threw herself into it; falling, hurtling, caught.
